Mary Amanda Chronister, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.
There will be no visitation or public services, however, the family is gathering privately for services at a later date. She will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs, MI. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Mary was born on February 15, 1917, in Benton Harbor, to Elmer and Florence (Knee) Ferrier. On April 9, 1937, in Benton Harbor, she married Charles Chronister. She and her husband owned and operated the Rock Shop in Stevensville, from 1967 until their retirement in 2000.
Mary is survived by her children, Howard Earl Chronister of Kissimmee, FL, Amanda Marie Guernsey of St. Joseph, Harry LeRoy Chronister of Beaufort, SC, Nancy June Higgins of Hartford, MI, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, son, Charles Chronister, Jr., grandchildren, Bruce, David, and Harry, sisters, Ruth Scmidtman, Frances Sumner, Anita Sachs, and brothers, Elmer & Jasmon Ferrier.
